Below are the details of a few of our key officers.

Mandy Turner is the Secretary
Carol Montgomery is the Chair
Nigel Porter is the Treasurer & temporary Membership Officer
John Nicel is WSFRL Race Entries Secretary

Club rules: There aren’t really too many club rules; most things are covered in the constitution document. (this document is available here https://fittleworthflyers.org.uk/about/). However, if you run in West Sussex Fun Run League (WSFRL) races, as an affiliate of the club, you are required to wear your club vest or t-shirt. Entry to WSFRL races cost £between £5-£7 in advance and details of all these races can be found here http://westsussexfunrunleague.org.uk/fixture-list/

Club training days are Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6.30pm or 7pm and Saturday mornings at 9am.

Each week you will receive an email detailing the venues and timings for the different runs that week. Please also look out for our social events where there is a run followed by a gathering to give members a chance to catch up with each other over refreshments.

To help runners get the most from their runs, we divide into different groups :

Learn to Run – 0 to 5km Learn to Run (LTR)  progressive plan for new or returner runners

Beginners – those who have completed the Learn To Run program, are beginner runners or are returning from injury.  60 minute run, will include warm up and cool down, will cover up to 4 miles at slower pace with stops as needed, over paths and some off road

Intermediates – 60 minute run, covering 4-6 miles over mixed paths and off road

Advanced – 60 minute run, faster pace and with more off road and hills

After the run on a Saturday morning there is often tea and coffee available. At some venues, like Fittleworth, members generally support the local community shop and coffee/tea is purchased by members here, although this is not obligatory.

Membership Information: Information can be found regarding training venues, kit orders, etc. here (www.fittleworthflyers.org.uk). Membership fees run from January to December. Members can also add England Athletics (EA) membership through the club which gets members discounts on entries to many races and also a chance to participate in our annual draw for a London Marathon place (This takes place in December).  Once a member of EA the more WSFRL races you run for the club the more chances you have in the draw. We have a public Facebook page but also a closed members Facebook (Fittleworth Flyers Closed Group (Members Only)) More general club items get published on the Closed Facebook page, so please request to be added to this site if you would like to see what’s happening.

Committee Meetings: As a club, we meet formally once a quarter – Jan, Apr, Jul and Oct (AGM) and important items on the agenda of these meetings are put to the vote of the members.  In-between times, the management committee makes decisions and generally ensures the smooth-running of the club.  All meeting dates can be found on our calendar on the website.
